Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski

Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski represent this year’s Macedonian Pavilion, where they bring disparate references — a 12th-century fresco painting from the Church of St Gjorgi, the writings of philosopher Simone Weil, theorist Luce Irigaray and artist Paul Thek — under one roof. In their chapel-like sanctuary, they focus on the topic of faith: faith as the questioning of one’s beliefs (Weil), faith in the creative process (Paul Thek’s correspondence), and finally faith as religion. By bringing together drawings, texts and video works, the artists explore faith as a way of experiencing the world.
