Tomasz Wasilewski’s Floating Skyscrapers was a huge success in 2013, and won the East of the West award at prestigious Karlovy Vary for the young Warsaw director. The elegantly shot pressure-cooker drama was groundbreaking for the cinema of its traditionally Catholic country in depicting an intense romance between two men, which develops after a chance meeting at a gallery opening and means Kuba (Mateusz Banasiuk) can no longer live a lie with his girlfriend. The hard-hitting film doesn't flinch from the realities of embracing identity amid homophobia. There’s much anticipation surrounding Wasilewski’s new project , which is currently in production.
