National Gallery bookshop

Unassuming as far as shops go, the bookshop in the National Gallery off Rustaveli has a great range of beautifully produced coffee table books, many in English, taking you through the extraordinary visual culture of Georgia. As well as medieval icons and tomes on church carvings there are contemporary photographers and avant-garde subversives. Of course, this is a great excuse to visit the national gallery itself. Explore the works of the forgotten geniuses of Georgian modernism like Davit Kakabadze and the unsurpassed Niko Pirosmani, then go and buy the book.
