Explore the UK’s first major exhibition of Polish photography with curator Kate Bush

The curator behind the UK’s first in-depth show of Polish photography will be delving into Poland’s rapidly-evolving creative landscape as part of a special one-off event in London.

Kate Bush, the curator of Family Values: Polish Photography Now, will discuss the work of Poland’s best upcoming artists at Calvert 22 Foundation’s space in Shoreditch on Wednesday 30 May.

Each of the artists use the themes of family and home to explore identity amid intense social and political change.

At the heart of the talk will be Polish photographer Zofia Rydet (1911 – 1997), whose Sociological Record — a monumental 19-year mission to photograph every person in Poland — is being shown in the UK for the first time.

Her images will appear alongside contemporary Polish artists, including Józef Robakowski, Aneta Grzeszykowska, Weronika Gęsicka, and Aneta Bartos.

As well as having the chance to explore the exhibition before and after the event, Kate will also be on hand for a Q&A with the audience.
