The last pagans of Europe: explore ancient religions in the heart of the Caucasus

A new talk discovering ancient religions in the heart of the Caucasus is coming to London with Calvert 22 Foundation.

A pop-up exhibition showcasing ritual objects from the mountainous region of Dagestan will appear for one night only on Thursday 26 July at the foundation’s space in Shoreditch.

Curated by art historian and anthropologist Robert Chenciner, the show includes ancient copper figurines, painted felt masks and rare musical instruments.

Tbilisi-based journalist William Dunbar will also be on hand to present his talk — Animal Sacrifices, Holy Beer and Sacred Pies: the Last Pagans of Europe — alongside the best Georgian wine and cuisine from London’s Little Georgia cafe and Georgian Wine Club.

Tickets are sold on a pay-what-you-wish basis, but visitors are encouraged to book their place in advance.
