Discover the toys proving Czechia has always been on the cutting-edge of design

For the past century, some of the best unsung Czech design has been found in the toy boxes of children across the world. The Mini Wonders exhibition in London’s Czech Centre explores this modern art legacy, which blends ancient craftsmanship and iconic pop culture.

Curated by Tereza Bruthansová, the exhibition showcases designs that threw Czech (and Czechoslovakian) art into the spotlight: from the Brussels 1958 Expo to the Museum of Modern Art’s Century of the Child 2012 exhibition in New York.

A new generation of designers keeping toymaking traditions alive will also have their work displayed — and everything in the exhibition can also be purchased.

Having already appeared in Tokyo and Jerusalem (travelling, of course, in Czechia’s iconic Kazeto cardboard suitcases), the UK exhibition features in this year’s London Design Festival and marks 100 years since the founding of Czechoslovakia.
