Calvert 22 Foundation and The Calvert Journal are hosting an curated series of workshops, talks and portfolio reviews for emerging photographers who want to dig deep into the world of visual storytelling.

The New East Photo Weekend on Saturday 13 October brings together photographers and industry experts for an essential “how-to” guide on navigating the photography industry.

Talks and discussions include how to develop travel snaps into photo stories, overcoming failure, and pitching to editors.

There will also be drop-in portfolio review sessions throughout the day, as well as a masterclass on image editing and retouching with a master printer from Metro Imaging.

It’s also a chance to explore the New East Photo Prize 2018 exhibition, launching on 11 October, complete with an talk from 2016 award winner Michal Siarek on his project and photobook, Alexander.

Tickets are avaliable for £15 (£10 for students) and include entry to the foundation’s Zine Culture and Self-Publishing event on Friday 12 October.
