Calvert 22 Foundation is announcing the winners of the New East Photo Prize 2018 in a special ceremony celebrating the very best in visual storytelling and photography.

The announcement will kick off the New East Photo Prize 2018 exhibition, showcasing the work of all 16 finalists for this year’s competition. Running from 12 October – 1 December 2018, the show offers a unique glimpse into the contemporary self-identity of an underrepresented region and the lives of its people.

The competition’s overall winner will receive a prize of £1,000 to further develop their work, with additional prizes up for grabs by London’s Metro Imagine and the Fabrika design hotel in Tbilisi.

Hundreds of professional and amateur photographers from 26 New East countries entered their work for the second edition of the biennale prize, which champions contemporary perspectives on the people and stories of the region.

The awards ceremony in London on Thursday 11 October is free to attend, but visitors are urged to book their place in advance. The event will also be followed by the New East Photo Weekend, a series of talks, discussions and workshops on the photography industry today.

The New East Photo Prize exhibition will run from 12 October – 1 December 2018 at Calvert 22 Foundation in Shoreditch. For more information, click here.
