Calvert 22 announces new central London home

12 October 2018

Calvert 22 has announced it is moving to a new home in central London and will close its current exhibition space.

The organisation will relocate its offices to Somerset House, a creative hub in the heart of the U.K. capital, at the end of the year. The current exhibition space in Shoreditch will shut on 2 December.

Calvert 22 has said re-structuring, including a new website, will allow it to reach a broader audience via The Calvert Journal and international partnerships, while it maintains a programme of talks, pop-up exhibitions and workshops. Details of future events will be announced in the coming months.

“We’re so proud of how Calvert 22 has developed from a platform focusing on contemporary art in the New East to something much bigger,” said Nonna Materkova, founder and director of Calvert 22. “We’re excited that the future of Calvert 22 will have a bigger impact on the creative sector.”

The final exhibition in the current space in Shoreditch is the New East Photo Prize 2018, which launched this week.
