First legal graffiti wall opens in Moscow

19 July 2013

Moscow’s Culture Minister Sergei Kapkov opened the city’s first creative space for street art today, complete with a legal graffiti wall. SahArt, housed in a former sugar factory in northwest Moscow, will also hold lectures on contemporary art, urbanism, business and social projects over the coming months. The space will be available to photographers, musicians and artists to use for free. To celebrate the opening, some of Moscow’s best graffiti artists painted a 1,500m wall.
