Russian take on Japanese pod hotel opens in Moscow

5 February 2013

The first dedicated Sleepbox hotel has opened in central Moscow. The Japansese-inspired self-contained sleeping pods were designed by Arch Group, a Moscow-based architecture practice. They have been scattered across departure lounges in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport since 2009, but this is the first time they have been used for an entire hotel. Each pod includes a bed, shelf and complimentary wifi. Prices start at 2,600 roubles (£52) per night for a single and 4,900 roubles (£98) for a family suite.
