Documentary film festival about Ukraine to open in London
Still from Anyone Can Be Saint Nikolai, dir. Georg Genoux (2014)

7 May 2015

A film festival of documentary film about Ukraine is set to open next week in London, with the event split into two halves, Documenting Ukraine: theatre, and Documenting Ukraine: cinema. The event is a collaborative venture between London-based Russian art and design gallery GRAD, the Frontline Club, openDemocracy and Open City Docs Fest, and features a mix of live performances, film screenings and debates.

The festival opens with the multimedia solo performance Anyone Can Be Saint Nikolai, which incorporates audio interviews and video footage telling the story of the author Georg Genoux’s time volunteering in east Ukraine’s city Nikolaevka.

The second part of the festival features a full programme of contemporary documentary cinema, with details to be announced.

The festival runs from 14-17 May.

Tickets are available here (theatre) and here (cinema).
