Hungarian photographer Andi Gáldi Vinkó’s first UK show opens in London

Andi Gáldi Vinkó’s UK debut show opened last week in Stour space in London. Paradisco is a series of portraits exploring contemporary youth and the photographer’s take on our oversaturated visual culture.

“Alluding to an elusive paradise, the title combines ‘Para’, Hungarian slang for ‘fear’, with ‘disco’, a term universally understood to indicate fun. This duality — capturing both the frailty and absurdity of the world, as well as the desire to celebrate one’s own place in it — runs throughout Paradisco,” writes Galdi Vinko in an introduction to the show.

Andi Gáldi Vinkó is part of the new wave of talented photographers from Hungary, alongside Peter Puklus, Viola Fátyol, Dániel Halász and many others. The book Paradisco will appear later this year, published by PogoBooks.

Paradisco is on show in Stour Space till the 29th of June 2015.
