Czech In, a festival of new Czech film, is set to open on 9 September in Moscow.

The festival will take place at the Centre of Documentary Cinema in Moscow, and will showcase four films in their original Czech-language versions with Russian subtitles.

The four films screened will be the retrospective biography of renowned Czech photographer Jan Saudek Photographer (2015, dir. Irena Pavlásková), a drama about the attraction of opposites Us 2 (2014, dir. Slobodanka Radun), the story of a clumsy official Wisdom Teeth (2014, dir. Jiří Strach) and a comedy about family mysteries Red (2014, dir. Ondřej Sokol).

“All the films at this year’s festival [...] are reminiscent of illustrations from an old favourite book: carefully traced details are immersed in an atmosphere of magic, allowing the audience to plunge into the unique world that is Czech film,” read a statement from the organisers, art association CoolConnections.

Actor and director Jiří Strach will be a special guest at the festival.

Czech In will run in Moscow from 9 to 13 September. The films will also be screened in St Petersburg from 11 to 14 September, Yekaterinburg from 13 to 16 September and Nizhny Novgorod from 6 to 9 October.
