Fashion exhibition exploring national identity opens in Tallinn

A fashion exhibition exploring the theme of Estonian identity opens today at the Estonian parliament in Tallinn.

According to the parliament press service, the I am Estonian exhibition will explore Estonian culture and what it is to be Estonian, examining ways in which Estonians can appreciate their roots and retain their distinctive characteristics in the face of a changing world of mixed identities.

Estonian fashion designer Anu Hint both serves as curator and presents her own photographs in the exhibition. In her designs she uses the motifs and colors of handmade carpets, underlining the parallels between traditional textiles and modern fashion.

The exhibition will take place in the art hall of the Estonian parliament, located in Toompea Castle in central Tallinn. It will run until 20 November.
