New season of “Start” project opens today at Moscow’s Winzavod

The first exhibition of the new cycle of the “Start” project opens today at the Winzavod Centre for Contemporary Art in Moscow.

The season opens with Vladimir Omutov’s Content, in which he works with the aesthetics of post-internet art, combining the digital and the physical in the creation of 3D internet icons using traditional techniques together with digital textures. Omutova’s first solo exhibition, Content is an artistic exploration of the nature of visual images, located somewhere on the border between virtual reality and the material world. The artist uses a range of different materials in the exhibition, including iron, wood, fabric and wire.

The “Start” project was launched in 2008 and gives young artists the opportunity to hold personal exhibitions. The new cycle of the project will showcase the work of young Russian artists in eight exhibitions over the next year. Content will run until 31 January.
