Hollywood star Steven Seagal to attend World Nomad Games

American actor and director Steven Seagal is set to attend the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games, which will take place on 3 September on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan.

According to a press release by the organisers of the Games, Mr Seagal will be attending on the invitation of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev.

During his visit, the Hollywood star also plans to meet with representatives from the Aikido (a Japanese martial art) Federation and take part in a charity dinner in honour of the Asian World Film Festival.

Now in its second edition, the World Nomad Games is an international sports competition dedicated to ethnic sports practiced in Central Asia.

Events include falconry, horse racing, wrestling and Buzkashi, a Central Asian sport in which horse-mounted players attempt to place a goat or calf carcass in a goal. The games are accompanied by a cultural programme, which this year will feature music and fashion events.
