Make wine the centre of your holiday at Croatia’s first “vinotel”

25 August 2016

Croatia first wine-themed hotel or “vinotel” opens today, set on the island of Krk in the northern Adriatic.

The Gospoja boutique vinotel has 22 rooms and apartments and is made up of five connecting buildings, which represent the five wine regions of Croatia. The hotel’s design also draws inspiration from Croatian grape varieties, with each room named after a particular grape native to the country.

The hotel, which is the result of around 5 million euros ($5.65 million) of investment, is built on the foundations of the Toljanić family house, a family well-known in the region for their winemaking legacy, in the small coastal town of Vrbnik.

Every year Vrbnik hosts a wine festival on the last weekend of August, where visitors can taste local wine and enjoy learning about wine production in the region.
