PACCBET: Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy to launch new skate label

15 September 2016

Russian fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy will launch new label PACCBET, together with Tolia Titaev, a professional skater and muse to the designer.

“The idea of PACCBET originated a couple years ago when we started thinking about creating a new Russian skateboard brand,” Titaev told Dazed. “We had tried to make a few skateboards by ourselves in the past, with other names, but every time it was a disaster and we never managed to finish the projects.”

“We started to play with the notion of PACCBET and realised it was a perfect name for us!” explains Rubchinskiy. “PACCBET (RASSVET) means sunrise. РАССВЕТ is a power, the beginning of a new day. A new day, a new life, a new world.”

The name, which has already appeared as a slogan in some of Rubchinskiy’s designs, is also a symbol of the new emerging generation of Russian skaters.

“It’s a great link to Gosha as he has already used this idea in his collections,” says Titaev. “Now many people are familiar with the word.”

PACCBET is produced by Comme des Garçons. The debut collection comprises a small range of skateboards, t-shirts, hoodies, and caps designed by Titaev.

“We designed clothes to skate in. It’s mean streetwear, I think,” Titaev says.

PACCBET launches on 17 September at branches of Dover Street Market across the world and Comme des Garçons’ Trading Museum concept store in Paris.
