22 September 2016

Moscow’s Garage Museum of Contemporary Art has created the first Russian sign language dictionary of 21st century art terms.

The department of inclusive programming at Garage has developed 36 terms in Russian sign language from the sphere of contemporary art, including “abstraction”, “pop art” and “conceptualism”. Also working on the dictionary was a team of experts, who use sign language as their first language — professional translator Arkady Belozovsky, artist Alexander Martianov, journalist Aleksandr Sidelnikov, actress and TV hostess Antonina Pichugin and photojournalist Tatiana Beers.

The sign language dictionary is now available on Garage’s official YouTube channel.
