Friday 14 October will see the launch Love Doc festival in Moscow, focusing on documentaries on love and relationships. The official selection and competition programmes include films awarded at BFI London Film Festival, Adelaide Film Festival and Venice International Film Festival, as well as a selection of Russian short films and debuts. Special festival events are also planned for St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, see the programme on the festival’s website (Russian).

Also launching on Friday is the year-long Nights of Feminist Films event in St Petersburg that plans show feminist films every Friday for a year. The first theme will be abortions, following the Black Monday protests in Poland earlier this month, and the first film Children of the Decree, a German documentary on Ceaușescu-era Romania where both abortions and contraception were banned. See the event’s VK page for details (Russian).
