Leading Russian search engine Yandex has launched the Crime and Punishment map, inviting literature fans to explore the book’s iconic locations to mark the 195th anniversary of the birth of author Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Hosted by Yandex.Maps, the Crime and Punishment map not only guides Dostoyevsky enthusiasts around the city to ten key locations, but provides relevant historical information and quotes from the novel.

“It has been 150 years since the publication of the novel. But the St Petersburg described by Dostoyevsky is still recognisable,” say the project’s creators. Among the locations included on the map are Dostoeyevsky’s home on Kaznacheyskaya Street, where the novel was written; Sennaya Ploshchad, where Raskolnikov and Marmeladova met; and Srednyaya Podyacheskaya Street, where the murder of pawnbroker Alyona Ivanovna takes place.
