Steven Seagal escapes attack in Russian advert

American film star Steven Seagal has put his smartphone to good use, escaping an attack by a group of hooligans while starring in a Russian commercial.

The advert sees a man walking through the streets of Moscow clad in a fur coat and pursued by a gang. Just before disaster looks sure to strike, he turns around to reveal his identity — he is none other than Seagal.

“Tender snow crunches under the feet … like the bones of my enemies. What is it you want, friends?” he says into his smartphone, which reads back the line in Russian to the thugs.

This seems to change everything — “Guys! He’s one of ours!” one of the hooligans exclaims, before leading the group in their retreat.

“Our Russian 4G Internet from MegaFon — the fastest mobile internet in Russia,” declares a voiceover, placing emphasis on the word “our”, surely making reference to Seagal’s recently obtained Russian citizenship.

We can’t vouch for whether this technique is a sure-fire way to evade any thugs who may be on your case in the Russian capital, but it’s worth a try. It worked for Steven, at least.
