Pavel Pepperstein work to go on show in London crypt

This evening will see the launch of Revive!, an art exhibition in a derelict crypt beneath a church in west London.

The show will feature watercolours from Russian artist Pavel Pepperstein’s Riders on the Storm series alongside performance, sculpture, painting, light and sound installations by STASIS, Hans Rosenström, Adam Barker-Mill, Niklas Gustafson, Alan Magee, Jonathan McCree, Carolyn Barker-Mill, Col Self and Lucinda May.

Revive! is curated by Sasha Galitzine and Olga Mackenzie, who both have Russian roots, and whose previous site-specific projects have included shows on an allotment and a canal boat.

According to them, Revive! will “reflect on issues such as ritual and spirituality, memory and presence, death and transfiguration and the notion of revivalism in our post-Brexit Britain and after Trump’s victory”.

Revive! runs from 7–18 December at the crypt of St Mary Magdalene Church in Little Venice, Rowington Close W2 5TF. Open daily 3–7pm. Private View: 7 December 6–9pm.
