Kazakhstan launches first national online music education project

22 December 2016

Kazakhstan’s first national online music education initiative was unveiled last week: introducing Dalatunes.kz

Created by Gani Toksanbayev and Rashida Tylivaldiyeva, Dalatunes is an internet platform where users can find around 10,000 Kazakh songs, in addition to chords, lyrics and scores. The project forms a rich library, which aims both to preserve Kazakh musical heritage and provide access to music to those living in remote regions. Much of the music featured on Dalatunes was digitalised for the first time for its inclusion on the site.

“Unfortunately, today we are witnessing the decline of interest in native domestic music. [...] To revive interest and instil the love of the traditional and modern Kazakh sound, for the first time in Almaty our company has developed a social project,” Ms Tylivaldiyeva told The Astana Times.

Dalatunes plans to launch two mobile apps next year — one with the same online library as the main site, and the other a Shazam-style app to identify music.
