Step inside Russia’s first 3D printed house

3D printing construction company Apis Cor has unveiled Russia’s first ever on-site printed house — printed in just a day!

The printing of the somewhat unusual house — whose floorplan is akin to a rotor in shape — was a joint project between Apis Cor and Russian public developer PIK.

Situated in the town of Stupino in Russia’s Moscow region, the “ink” for the 3D printer was a concrete mixture, which forms the main structure of the house. This is topped with a roof system capable of withstanding heavy snowfall, while both solid and liquid insulation layers work together to maintain pleasant temperatures inside the house.

Founded by Russian engineer Nikita Chen-yun-tai, Apis Cor was the first company to develop a mobile construction 3D printer capable of printing whole buildings completely on site.
