Romanian singer KEO releases charity single with French ambassador

In an unexpected collaboration, Romanian music star KEO has teamed up with French ambassador to Romania, François Saint-Paul, to produce a charity single titled The sun in the sky (Soarele pe cer).

Released in honour of Children’s Day on 1 June, The sun in the sky sees KEO’s dulcet tones accompanied by Saint-Paul’s tuneful piano playing and an appropriately atmospheric music video, filmed at the French embassy in Bucharest.

According to a statement by the French embassy, the feat of music diplomacy — written and composed by the performers themselves — was born of a desire to express a message about hopes, aspirations and the inescapable passing of time. All proceeds will go to the Valentina Association, an organisation that works to support children and families from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.
