Uncapitals have launched an open call for participants from the Barents Region to apply for their four-day Digital Heritage creative camp, taking place on the shores of the White Sea in September.

Now in its third edition, this year Uncapitals will explore the theme of Digital Heritage. Navigating the often blurred boundary between reality and imagination, participants will reflect on the culture of the Pomors — Russian settlers, predominantly from the Novgorod region, whose descendants live on the White Sea coasts — and create an interactive installation in VR format, based on a subjective vision of the Pomor Museum.

The project is looking for participants to join the camp’s two streams: VR-platforms (coders, developers, illustrators, web designers, animations and 3D artists) and Research (museum and exhibition curators, journalists and art critics).

Applications are sought from residents of Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Northwest Russia, Norway, Sweden and the Åland Islands aged 18 — 30. The application deadline is 23 July 2017.

Uncapitals 2017 will take place from 21 — 24 September 2017 in Onega, in Russia’s Arkhangelsk Province. Find out more here.
