Celebrate Mr Trololo with the catchiest Google Doodle of all time

Take a minute to relive the moment you discovered Eduard Khil, a.k.a. Mr Trololo — the Soviet-era singer who became a viral sensation. Today, Google is celebrating what would have been his 83rd birthday with a charming Doodle.

Khil, who died in 2012, had already enjoyed a successful career in his homeland but only shot to global stardom when a 1976 video of him singing a version of I am very glad, as I’m finally returning back home resurfaced in 2009 and went viral. The song originally contained lyrics about a cowboy, but thankfully these were replaced with the distinctive “trololo” sound for which Khil has become loved around the world.
