A robot that scales walls to create stunning large-scale street art is heading to this year’s Burning Man as part of the festival’s 2018 art scene.

Developed by Estonian company SprayPrinter, the robot — affectionately named Albert — will be creating a different mural each hour in a collaboration with Tartu artists Pixel Ninjas, Point of You.

Images are created and scaled digitally before being given to Albert to create at a rate of 1 sq. metre each minute. The robot’s previous exploits include painting a 150-metre smoke stack, as well as decorating an apartment block with the image of Estonian rock legend Jaak Joala.

Albert’s team are now preparing the robot for his first personal art show at San Francisco’s Midway Gallery & Artist Studios later this year.
