A major exhibition of Kazakh art has opened in London

20 September 2018

The best of Kazakhstan’s contemporary art scene is touring the world with four new exhibitions spanning the United States, South Korea, London and Berlin.

Featuring 80 emerging and established artists, the Focus Kazakhstan series will explore modern art in new contexts: from the effects of de-Sovietisation and local modernity, to feminism and the rise of post-nomadic art in the 21st century.

The London event, Post-Normadic Mind, draws parallel dialogues between contemporary artists and their Soviet predecessors. It explores the work of 31 artists who navigate postmodernism through painting, photography, sculpture and video, touching on local tendancies to search for identity through the prism of historical nomadism and its rapid disappearance.

Post-Normadic Mind is on display from 18 September to 16 October 16th at The Wapping Hydraulic Power Station in London. For more information, click here.
