The annual International Festival of Street Theatre opened yesterday in the historical city of Arkhangelsk in Northern Russia on the shores of White Sea. Over the next week, 50 performances by 16 different theatre groups from Russia, France, Britiain, Spain, Italy and Australia will take place at various locations across the city. The 19th edition of the festival, which marks the start of summer, opened with a traditional carnival through the city centre. This year the festival will include masterclasses in dancing and cooking as well as filming screenings of silent films. The festival will run until the 30 June.
