An online-only bar giving isolated extroverts the chance to meet up over a cold beer in the comfort of their own homes has opened in St Petersburg.
Russian creative agency the Shishki Collective launched The Stay the Fuck Home bar to encourage more people to stay at home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The bar can be accessed from anywhere in the world and offers the chance to meet other people — whether friends or strangers — via video chat. Unlike most pubs, punters are also invited to bring their own booze.
The site hosts three virtual rooms, each of which can host 12 people. In the bar’s first 24 hours, however, more than 30,000 people visited the website.
“We are not ready to give up having fun, even when the world is about to collapse,” the bar’s homepage says. “So that’s why we’ve created the Stay the Fuck Home bar … where you can stay isolated yet connected with people you love.
“Borders are closing, but we are welcoming everyone from everywhere.”
