The Romanian Centre for Documentary Photography is giving the world intimate access into the country’s lesser known corners via their Instagram account, @cdfd_ro.

Founded by four photographers — Petrut Călinescu, Ioana Cîrlig, Marin Raica, and Ioana Călinescu — the centre shares glimpses into the lives of the country’s diverse communities, from mountain villages to the outskirts of the capital city, Bucharest.

With an acute observer’s eye and a remarkable lack of judgment, @cdfd_ro explores what brings people together, whether it’s religious rituals, or Romania’s county fairs.

Humanity’s relationship with nature also features heavily on @cdfd_ro, with projects on ecology and the natural remedies embraced by locals.
