Need a new pair of shoes without feeding into the fast fashion cycle? Using low impact dyes, sustainable packaging, and working with waste-free factories, Ukrainian fashion brand House Martin has launched a new collection of black and white, khaki and mustard-coloured minimalist urban shoes, made of water-repellent fabric.

House Martin says they are committed to sustainability. It was founded in 2018 by Svitlana Mays, who decided to pursue her passion for fashion design after two decades of working as a seamstress and salesperson. “We import vegan and cruelty-free materials from Italy and work with a factory in Ukraine that has implemented waste-free production. All the leftover production material is compressed and fully recycled,” they told The Calvert Journal.

In addition to their sustainable make-up, the shoes are also gender-neutral.

“What really matters is to have the right-sized shoe, and to style it as you feel comfortable, not what gender stereotypes expect of you,” House Martin added.
