Greedy guts: watch the Russian cartoon teaching kids about selfishness, greed, and consumerism

14 September 2020

A young boy and his father are driving around Moscow, but the pair have a serious problem: everyone they pass turns into a frog.

This is Zhadina, (or “Greedy guts” in English), a new music video designed to spark big world conversations between parents and kids. Set to the beat of the eponymous song by Russian rapper Noize MC, Zhadina travels through a city populated by greedy frogs constantly fighting for more. The only way to become human again is through sharing.

Part mockumentary, part music video, and part animation, the video takes on modern society’s lack of empathy and consumerist culture. Created by Yekaterinburg-based creative agency Red Pepper, the video is part of a YouTube project, dedicated to children inspired by “everyday problems and talks with parents.”
