Russian artist Monetochka has just dropped her new album Arts and Crafts.
The album is the latest release from pop star Liza Girdimova, a Yekaterinburg-born singer who rose to fame in 2016 after uploading home-recorded videos to YouTube and Russian social media site VKontakte. Her sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek lyrics brought the teenager internet stardom, and her fanbase has been growing ever since.
Arts and Crafts is Monetochka’s third album, after the 2018 release Colouring-In for Adults, and her first album, I am Liza.
Her latest tracks replace the dreamy, electronic sounds of her previous drop with guitar and drum beats, but keeps the same high-pitched vocals and sharp lyrics that characterise her songs, with witty pop observations on everything from drinks to politics.
