Bake it till you make it: Polish photographer wins top food photo prize for apple pie shot

Polish photographer Natalia Bogubowicz has been honoured in a global competition for the world’s top food photographers.
Her award-winning shot, Apple in Cake, took the top spot in the Pink Lady Apple a Day category at the 2021 awards for Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year.

The mouth-watering shot depicts a pie fresh from the oven sprinkled with cinnamon and caster sugar. Latvian food stylist Baiba Opule also featured among the shortlisted shots in the Food Stylist category, with her pastry series featuring a tantalising tangerine cake, a red apricot galette, a blueberry cake, and a chocolate raspberry cake.

The prize, now in its 10th iteration, celebrates the most compelling and original shots showcasing food and its cultural value, across categories ranging from Wine Photography to Street Food and the Politics of Food.
The works of the 2021 finalists will be showcased at a free exhibition at The Royal Photographic Society in Bristol from 20 November to 12 December 2021.
