Rosturism, the Russian federal tourism agency, has announced the results of the first round of its “Tourism brand of Russia” design competition.

Under the leadership of Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, a special commission has selected the top ten entries among the many vying to become the new emblem of Russia in the world of tourism. A number of the entries feature onion domes, which is for many the quintessential emblem of Russia, while others draw on more contemporary designs. The entries also feature a variety of slogans.

The “Tourism brand of Russia” competition opened in February 2015. Design hopefuls were asked to create a logo that uses “artistic language belonging to the cultural and historical values of Russia”.
