CTM Siberia festival to open this weekend in Krasnoyarsk

9 September 2015

The CTM Siberia festival is set to open this weekend in Krasnoyarsk, bringing the electronic music and visual arts festival to the region for the first time.

Originally focused solely on electronic music, CTM has since evolved to cover a wide range of genres under the banner “Festival for Adventurous Music and Related Visual Arts”. Ordinarily taking place in Berlin, the festival will travel to Siberia as the result of a collaboration with the Goethe Institut Novosibirsk and local partners.

The festival programme features evening concerts and club nights showcasing the projects of local and German artists, as well as those from further afield in Russia, while the daytime programme includes a host of workshops and masterclasses on artistic and technological strategies. There will be a particular focus on unusual combination and collaboration across genres, styles and scenes.

The Krasnoyarsk leg of the festival culminates in CTM Siberia X Boiler Room, a night of live electronic music from head of Klammklang label and CTM Siberia co-curator HMOT and Krasnoyarsk-based Appleyard and Wheel, as well as sets by head of Morphine label Rabih Beaini and Love Cult. The prolific online music platform Boiler Room will be live streaming the event.

CTM Siberia will take place in Krasnoyarsk from 11 to 12 September and Novosibirsk from 14 to 20 September.
