The Moscow State Museum of Architecture has launched an open competition to create a pedestrian-friendly, cultural cluster in the heart of the city. A longlist of proposals on how to improve the area, around Borovitskaya Square, will be displayed in an exhibition before being passed to the city authorities to pick a winner.
The area is a stone’s throw from the Kremlin and is home to a number of prominent museums and galleries, including the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and the Multimedia Art Museum. However, a lack of signage and pedestrian crossings make the area inconvenient for visitors.
