Independent multi-national studio Knightsbridge Entertainment has denied reports that Leonardo DiCaprio will play Russian President Vladimir Putin in one of its upcoming films.
“We have not made any announcements, I don’t know where these claims about an agreement with DiCaprio have come from [...] All I can say is that four top-class actors are taking part in auditions [for the role of Putin] and the film will be made by a director who has two Oscars to his name,” said Valery Saaryan, representative of Knightsbridge Entertainment in Asia and Europe, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
This statement comes after a report by Russian television channel TV Rain (Dozhd) that the Hollywood actor would play the leading role in the film entitled Putin, set for release in spring 2017.
