New east cities to host first World Cup Selfie Contest

The Azerbaijani, Kazakh and Russian capitals — Baku, Astana and Moscow — together with the Belarusian city of Vitebsk and Tver in Russia, are set to jointly host the first World Cup Selfie Contest.

Themed “Make yourself and your country famous”, the contest will take place from 1 March to 1 May. An international jury will choose the top 100 entries, following which 50 finalists will compete for the title of World Cup Selfie, according to competition organiser Kamal Bagirov.

The contest will feature numerous categories, including selfies near places of interest, group selfies, selfies in traditional costume etc. Winners will receive awards such as cash prizes and statues made of precious metals.
