The Mixtape 29: Art Crime

This month’s special extended mix comes from Art Crime, the new widely celebrated voice from Russia’s emerging electronic music scene. Art Crime’s immersive introspective tracks are fit both for either losing yourself on the dancefloor or staying at home enveloped in murky synths and piano chords. The mixtape he compiled for The Calvert Journal belongs to the latter, and was inspired by a personal heartache. “I don’t want to seem too sentimental or romantic but I would like this mix to be heard by a girl I’ve been in love with for a long time and with whom for some reason we can’t find a way to be together anymore,” Art Crime says. “The mixtape is compiled from the music we would usually listen to on repeat when we were together. These are the tracks I listen to on my own to calm down and get inspired. This is something I’m missing at all these noisy parties, something more real.”
