The Moscow metro will launch a special themed train for Cosmonautics Day, which takes place on 12 April, while themed posters are marking the occasion throughout the city.

According to the head of the Moscow metro, Dmitry Pegov, the launch of the train is timed to honour the 55th anniversary of the first human space flight. The metro line on which the “cosmic” train will run has yet to be announced.

In addition, more than 150 themed posters and billboards are currently visible throughout Moscow.

“The posters, which will appear in the city on April 1, will show the ‘Vostok’ rocket soaring into the air and an appeal to the current generation — ‘Lift up your head!’” said a report on the Moscow mayor and government’s official web portal on 31 March.

Video footage of the rocket’s launch can be seen on the media screens at the Central Telegraph on Tverskaya Street, where the clip is being broadcast for at least 10 minutes each hour from 1 to 12 April.
