The Moscow news agency has announced that the Russian capital’s Museum Night will take place this year on 21 May.
“In 2016 the Museum Night will take place from the evening of 21 May into 22 May. Apart from the normal events we are planning to host some special projects — quest games in the museums, tours of film shoot locations. Participants in the event will be able to work together with young artists to make art installations [...]. At the moment we are looking for a performer who can develop the concept [...],” the spokesperson for the agency in charge of Moscow’s cultural events stated.
In the city’s pedestrian areas information centres will be set up, while from 16 — 21 May a 24-hour hotline about the event will be in operation.
In total, the city authorities are planning to spend around 9.5 million rubles (approx. US$145,000) on the event.
Moscow Museum Night sees museums, galleries and art centres open until the early hours of the morning, with admission free of charge and many organisations hosting special events in honour of the occasion.
