Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko has signed into law a bill banning all Russian films produced or shown for the first time from 1 January 2014.

237 lawmakers voted for the bill on 29 March, entitled “On making changes to the Ukrainian law ‘On cinema’”.

In addition, the new legislation extends the ban to Russian films seen as popularising law enforcement agencies and the military, regardless of release date.
