The second edition of Riga Photomonth opens on Monday in the Latvian capital, showcasing photography from northern and eastern Europe.

This year’s Photomonth includes ten exhibitions and over 25 events, exploring the common theme “Territories, Borders and Check-Points”.

Riga Photomonth’s public programme includes exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, lectures and film screenings, while professionals are able to take part in portfolio reviews and additional workshops.

Although the official opening weekend will take place from 12 – 15 May, the month kicks off on Monday 2 May with the public exhibition Territories, Borders and Check-Points, which will take place across Riga at JCDecaux advertising stands throughout the city.

Other highlights of the month will include the main exhibition, Territories, at the Latvian Railway History Museum from 13 May – 16 June, which will be co-curated by the internationally acclaimed Swedish photographer JH Engström and will feature seven photographers from northern and eastern Europe. In addition, SELF PUBLISH RIGA will host a series of events dedicated to photobooks and self-publishing culture.

Riga Photomonth will run from 2 May – 16 June. A full programme of events can be found here.
