New east countries through to Eurovision final

13 new east countries have made it through to the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, which will take place tomorrow night.

Azerbaijan, Russia, Hungary, Croatia, Armenia, and the Czech Republic fought off competition to gain their places among the ten winners of the first semi-final, while Latvia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia, Poland, and Lithuania emerged victorious in the second semi-final.

They will be joined in the Grand Final by Israel, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Germany, France, Cyprus, Spain, Malta, Austria and the United Kingdom.

Russia’s Sergei Lazarev is still the bookies’ favourite to win the contest. Ukraine’s Jamala is third favourite behind Australia’s Dami Im.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will be broadcast live from Stockholm at 8pm GMT on Saturday 14 May.
