10,000 bats descend upon Latvian Nature Concert Hall

11 July 2016

A levitating installation by Riga-based architecture firm DJA has transformed Latvia’s Zaļenieki Manor for this year’s Nature Concert Hall with 10,000 laminated paper bats.

The installation, which takes the shape of a kind of cloud, will serve both as a piece of art and a screen for video and light projections.

“Nature Concert Hall” brings together art, music, theatre and science to draw attention to environmental issues. The 2016 edition of the event takes the long-eared bat as its theme.
